  • This funeral home was suggested to us by the social worker for the hospice we used for my dad. We were given their name because they are one of the cheapest in cremation services in Tulsa. When we called we were given exact numbers with no "hidden" fees. I called one other funeral home and they wanted to "price match" Addvantage's price by $5.00. They had me talk to a director who quoted me a price $60 more than what the secretary had told me. I chose Addvantage because they seemed more honest just from the first initial call.
Gary the funeral director sat down with me and filled out the necessary paperwork. When he learned I was a healthcare worker(RN) he gave me a $100 discount on our services. We also received one free death certificate because my dad was a veteran. Not sure if the others do this but I thought it was very nice.
All we used this funeral home for was cremation. I have no idea how an actual funeral service would be handled here. I did find that Gary was not pushy and didn't try to "sell" me an elaborate box to place my dad in. (we plan on putting his ashes with my mothers).
The only negative is I found the actual building to be "smokey". Obviously, they allow smoking in the facility or have smoked in the facility in the past. I would have had a hard time with allergies had I needed to spend any length of time in the building.

  • Mr. Kelly stepped in professionally to ensure the service planned for my father was honorable and smooth for the family. He and his staff made all the arrangements and went way over and beyond to ensure that the flowers arrived, the sentiments were placed, the Air Force was present and all the T's were crossed. I am forever grateful for his stellar service and affordable pricing.

I can believe how dishonest this man is... This man didn't want to pay the transportation cost to Serenity Funerals and made a day that was already sad and upsetting worse.
This is the sort version of this story.
Serenity Funerals were the ones that were on call and pick my father-in-law up. Advantage was cheaper than Serenity, so I ask them to do the cremation. After it was all setup, I get a call back and he tells me Serenity Funerals wouldn't release my father-in-law because they were wanting payment for the transportation. Then he starts in on how this is illegal for them to charge me and to hold him for payment. If I wait till after the weekend when the Funeral Board is open he would file a complaint and get him release…
He told the wrong person this scam… What I heard is that my father-in-law body is being held for ransom! So I called the police and Sgt. McKinsey was the BEST! He helped way beyond the call of duty. After he talked to both funeral homes, the question of the day was Serenity Funerals picked up the body and transported it. They need to be paid for the services they provided. If it is illegal for them to charge me, then who pays. After talking to two other funeral homes, both of them said it’s usually wrapped into the cost of the funeral home that is doing the cremation. Which would be Advantage! So I called Advantage back this whole time I have been talking to Gary. Now he has a cocky attitude and states since I seem to be upset he will just pay the transportation cost. “It’s no biggie I make so much money its nothing to me.” **I paraphrased the quote** but that’s the sum of it. Then I asked, “So, they DO! need to be paid then?” Then he stutters and backpedaled and said “If I would have waited until after the weekend he could have had this handled.” I told him where he could go after that.
What he was doing was stiffing Serenity for the transport cost with the legality of they can’t hold the body for payment. Serenity would be forced to transfer the body without payment once the Funeral Board was opened.
I called Serenity back and they apologized for the issue and confirmed he was trying to stiff them with the cost. They all so matched Advantage price for all the trouble I had to go through.
DO NOT EVER USE THIS COMPANY!!! I recommend Serenity Funerals they were very nice and went out of there way because of this dishonest and crocked person.

It has taken me a while to decide whether or not to write this review, but I guess if I am still bothered by the treatment and services my family received what is now four years ago then I have to. Maybe I can save someone else the upset and bitter memories.

I won't waste your time with a long narrative, but know that I was made to feel like crap: made to feel like crap because we did not have much money, made to feel like crap about my father's own wishes (they weren't what Gary thought was fitting, as though it was his place to countermand the wishes of the deceased), made to feel like crap because I was being responsible to my father and our finances, which Gary made clear he took to be me being a disengaged punk (which was very incorrect and very inappropriate)

Due to my younger age (still an adult at 23, but to be treated like a child by Gary) they first tried to manipulate me , and then when I wouldn't budge they starting treating me just poorly - I was made to feel like crap at every turn. It was clear Gary could not care less about what I was saying, even for the most simple requests. He ignored things we asked for, tried to force on us things we didn't, and the whole time had the most smug and self-righteous carry you can imagine on a person - it was almost a caricature. Soon thereafter, when my uncle and grandmother arrived, Gary decided that he had enough of me and tried to get my uncle to 'see reason' saying that I didn't care (which was baldly false) and that we could still do more for 'his dear brother.' When my uncle assured him that what I has said was in keeping with my father's wishes, Gary became done with us all and closed the discussion.

We were given a corpse that still have blood and fluids on it. It was disrespectful profiteering. My grandmother, to this day, cries every time she talks about how poorly we -and her fallen son- were treated, my uncle gets angry.

Aside: I know this home gets, or at least got, a lot of business because it did 'good by' police officers and families - we got the recommendation from within TPD. Mine is a four generation sworn police family, down to my mother; my father, though a civilian, worked for TPD for over a decade. They did not do 'good by' us. This place only cares about money, only money, and the 'friend of the police' angle is only that to them. Don't fall for it.
